Item Description

I am generally shy of Indian Apophyllites for the reason that there are so darned many of them. But, occasionally, one unique new pocket will impress me and I buy as much as I can of that particular style form a single particular time and place. This happens rarely enough, though. This particular style started coming out at the end of 2013 and the combination of squat cubic green apophyllite with the sculptural salmon-pink stilbite matrix just impressed me more than any apophyllite find I have seen in years. This particular piece was one of the most elegant in the lot, and has crystals to 5 cm dramatically hanging from a nest of the pink stilbite. Underneath is some rock (basalt) matrix, unusually lined with some small crystals of the rare species laumontite. It is complete all around the display face and perimeter. The green apophyllites run about 1 inch in thickness. Joe Budd photos. We had this photographed in 2014 or so, and then lost it in the warehouse, and I am so happy to present it again here as a now-antique display specimen from a favorite find!
