Item Description

An unusual and possibly unique (?) specimen from the Verkhnii Mine in Dalnegorsk, Russia featuring sharp, well-formed, lustrous, pseudo-cubic crystals of Fluorapophyllite-(K) measuring up to 7 mm which range from white to colorless resembling the shape of a "flying saucer", as there is a slight "dome" in the center of the piece giving it the distinctive shape. The dark line running through the center of the specimen is a thin layer of matrix, and the Apophyllite crystals have formed on both sides. Apophyllite speicmens from the Verkhnii Mine are not common, and a piece like this with such a beautiful and eye-catching formation is a real treat. If you collect minerals of Russia/Dalnegorsk, or you just love specimens with interesting forms/shapes, this is a great piece to add to your collection. Valued $950.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#481 RU), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
