Item Description

A classic association specimen from Jalgaon featuring a predominant, stout, blocky, sharp, lustrous, doubly-terminated, crystal of pale yellow and colorless Fluorapophyllite-(K) which plays host to a few "sidecar" crystals of soft orange-pink colored bladed Stilbite-(Ca) measuring up to 3.2 cm with a couple more smaller "jewel"-like Apophyllites, free of matrix. The piece is crystallized on all sides, and is nearly a complete "floater", but there is a small point of attachment, where it was removed from the pocket wall. Fine quality all around, no major damage anywhere that I can see. Indian Zeolites (and associated species) may still be fairly common on the market, but you cannot deny the fact that they are colorful, attractive, highly displayable and several of them are the finest examples of their respective species extant ! Priced at $750 in our inventory. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007. You can read Steve's bio on the Mineralogical Record website ( https://mineralogicalrecord.com/biographies_labels/smalestephen/ ) or on Wikipedia.
