Fluorapophyllite-(K) "disco ball" on Stilbite (rare 2001 find)

A spectacular, renowned, 6.3 x 5.7 cm, bi-colored fluorapophyllite "disco ball" is beautifully set on the small cabinet basalt matrix covered with contrasting, pearlescent, ivory-colored stilbite blades. The gemmy, very glassy, tetragonal flourapophyllites have pinacoidal colorless terminations above mint-green bodies. This stunning piece was found in 2001 at the first well dug at Momin Akhada and were a tremendous hit at the major shows. It looks like a corsage and the variable length of the apophyllites is noteworthy. You simply cannot get them today, except from recycled collections. These have a special place in the midst of all the other Indian minerals and some people call them "disco balls" for good reason. They sparkle incredibly in person. An outstanding example. Valued highly today, as they are legendary and simply not available.
