Item Description
Prospect Park is one of the premier trap rock quarry localities in New Jersey, not only historic, but the source of some of the most well-known specimens (zeolites and associated minerals) ever found in the area. This piece is a classic example of Fluorapophyllite-(K) featuring a predominant, pseudo-cubic, white/colorless crystal measuring 1.3 cm on edge, associated with chalky white Laumontite and sparkling Quartz, along with a few additional Apophyllites for a nice touch. One of the secondary Apophyllites is contacted, but I can't find any other damage with the naked eye. This famous locality is completely closed down, never to produce again, so
From the collection of Gerry Morvell (#GM1071A).
