A stunning bowtie of GEM apophyllite, of a quality so shocking and striking that you can see the color glow from feet away. This is not just some normal apophyllite thumbnail. It is an amazing specimen! Perfect, floater, complete...a highly lustrous and transparent gemmy light green double-terminated crystals forming a bowtie. From Dr. Hemet (Mineral Décor), February 2014, Tucson City Center Hotel. Illustrated in Minerals & Gemstones of East Africa by Bruce Cairncross (2020). Also recently published in Mineralogical Record, Refined Elegance: The Small Treasures of Mineralogy, November 2022. This is, to our eye, among the best thumbnails of a very common species, so common you might normally not think twice. But this is different!
