Item Description

An impressive, large and notably rare specimen Fluorapatite var: Carbonate-rich Fluorapatite from the famed Foote Mine in North Carolina. This is one of the few specimens of this material that we've had to offer, and certainly the BIGGEST we've seen from this locality. A large percentage of the specimen is coated with botryoidal groups of pale beige colored Carbonate-rich Fluorapatite sits on a thin layer of matrix. There are some bruises on the piece, but it's forgivable considering the immense rarity of the material and astoundingly large size of the piece. If you collect rarities or minerals from the Foote Mine, this is something that is worth picking up for your collection.
From the collection Jack Eaker (whose label says the specimen was identified by Jason Smith).
