Item Description
A very hard to find old classic "Francolite" (now Carbonate-rich Fluorapatite) from the Levant Mine in Cornwall. I've only seen a few of these over the years, and this one is very good quality for the material. Sharp, lustrous, tabular, hexagonal prisms measuring up to about 2 mm are covering the display side of this miniature sized specimen. The color is an unusual bronzy brown hue, and very distinctive for Apatite, regardless of the variety. A great piece for any collector of Cornish minerals or worldwide Apatites. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11577). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
