Item Description
Glassy, translucent, textbook hexagonal bluish-gray apatite crystals and crystal sections are scattered amongst the dense forest of randomly oriented quartz points on the large greisen matrix from the famous Type Locality. The impressive, well-placed large apatite is 1.8 cm long. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3778 and acquired from Dr. Werner Lieber in Europe in 1964. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Yellow apatite fluorescence. A classic, showy and excellent large combination from this well-known extinct tin-tungsten mine closed in 1990.
