Item Description
This famous old deposit is the Type Locality for fluorapatite and this a classic, rich and very showy old-time combination plate. Juicy, glassy, pretty violet, hexagonal crystals are richly and aesthetically strewn on the quartz matrix plate studded with quartz points, to about 9 mm. The beautiful, well-placed apatite is 1.0 cm. Very fine and choice old-time material from the Howard Belsky Collection. The 18 mm label on the back with five lines of exquisite printing is from a collection, that was auctioned in 1908! The R.M. Wilke label dates from 1907 to the early 1940s. O. Ivan Lee on the Burminco label was a prominent East Coast collector who died in 1952.
