Item Description
A wonderful and rarely seen twinned purple Apatite group from Afghanistan. The form is fairly atypical in my experience, as I haven't seen many twins of Apatite from any locality, let alone with a highly desirable purple hue. The twins have taken the form of a "V"-shape or "butterfly". You rarely see such well-formed and lusrous purple crystals from any locality, let alone crystals that are so well crystallized all the way around. This one is not etched or "rough" on the exterior. It's translucent when backlit, and contacted in a few places, but it's still an interesting and attractive example with a cool morphology. Associated Albite and Mica on the back makes for a nice touch. Good crystallized purple Apatites are not that common on the market. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Valued at $500.
