Item Description

A classic example of the famous Fluorapatite crystals from Bancroft, but with a slight "twist" if you'll excuse the pun. This piece is a textbook hexagonal prism of a pinkish-brown hue, with smooth sharp faces and good luster, but it's actually slightly bent, which is uncommon for this material, and typically Apatite in general. The piece is actually doubly-terminated, and essentially a "floater" for all intents and purposes. To top it off, there are a few grey-black colored Uraninite crystals in the middle of the prism for a nice touch. A really good quality and certainly unique specimen of this well-known material. Valued at $750. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3105). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
