Fluorapatite (significant locality specimen)

Item Description

This significant Fluorapatite and unusually large specimen is from one of the Alpine clefts in the Tyrol region and displays high luster and good translucency! Apatites like these from Austria are not at all common and only come out sporadically. This one is a medium lavender-gray color with great luster and displays good translucency almost everywhere and is even somewhat gemmy in places. It has some small damages, but nothing that destroys any pleasure of viewing it, and all in context with the size. This crystal is luminous, sharp, and complete save a couple of small areas on the bottom. It has some attached Muscovite with Albite matrix at the bottom. This is a rather large, very good, Fluorapatite from any locality but particularly for European material from the Alps. NOTE: Kurt Hefendehl catalog stated this was from Knappenwand. We value it highly whichever Austrian valley it is from! However, we are told this is most likely from Zillertal, also in Tyrol region.
