Item Description

A wonderful thumbnail specimen of the hard to find Apatites from Morro Velho. The Fluorapatite group measures 1.2 cm across and has top luster with good sharpness and gemminess along with that lovely pink color. The matrix features off-white, translucent Dolomite rhombs with white glistening Albite crystals and a peppering of metallic golden-brown Pyrrhotite. This is definitely older material dating back to the early to mid 1970s. Excellent condition all around, a slight contact to the underside of the Apatite group, but still very showy and eye-catching. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8651). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
