The Pingwu Mine in China is best known for its superb crystallized specimens of Scheelite, Cassiterite and Aquamarine. For a very brief time in the early 2000s, there were a handful of beautiful pink Fluorapatite specimens found at this prolific locality, but they are virtually impossible to obtain on the market today. This piece is a fantastic example of these highly elusive Apatites featuring a fine quality, sharp, lustrous, light pink color, hexagonal crystal measuring 1.2 cm, beautifully perched atop bladed Muscovite matrix. The Apatite crystal is pristine, and features wonderful modifying faces, creating lots of a eye-catching little facets all over. If you collect Apatites, Chinese minerals or specifically have a suite of specimens from the Pingwu Mine, do NOT miss out on getting your hands on this excellent and eye-catching miniature display specimen for your collection. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
