Item Description
Gemmy, hexagonal, tabular, pretty lilac fluorapatite crystals, to 1.3 cm, are aesthetically and richly clustered on the quartz and cookeite matrix on this very fine combination from this classic old Maine pegmatite locale. The septa separating the apatites adds dramatic artistic appeal to this excellent combination from Kay Robertson Collection # 12946. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). This piece probably came from the 1980s collecting efforts from these quarries, that have been worked since the 1860s. Specimens are seldom on the market from here. Yelllow apatite fluorescence.
