Item Description
A RARE, rich and outstanding combination miniature from this extinct South Dakota pegmatite. Sparkly glassy, tabular, compound hexagonal apatite crystals, to 6 mm, are strikingly and richly festooned on the quartz matrix. The apatites spill over onto the back, adding pizzazz. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8208 and acquired from Al McGuinness at the Tucson Show in 1977. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). A superb apatite and quartz combination from this obscure pegmatite.
