Fluorapatite and orange calcite combinations are a highly desirable Candian classic and this is a striking large example. The pristine 8.3 cm apatite crystal is dramatically set in the starkly contrasting orange calcite matrix. The textbook, hexagonal sharply terminated crystal has very high glassy luster, beautiful translucent to gemmy areas and colorful variable greenish-brown with nifty orangey higlights. The crystal has been repaired or stabilized into the calcite, which is certainly acceptable in the context of this specimen. This is a very fine and aesthetic large example of the species and locale
