Steve Smale is renowned for his aesthetics and taste in fine mineral specimens and this is an outstanding example from Chumar Bakhoor. A gorgeous pink, 2.2 x 2.1 x 1.9 cm, hexagonal, gem fluorapatite crystal is fabulously set on a highly sculptural matrix of two generations (large and small) of pearlescent, muscovite plates. This adorable miniature is exquisite in its simplicity and beauty. Bright yellow fluorescence. Valued at $2500 in a major trade with me a number of years ago. It is certainly worth more today.
