Fluorapatite on Muscovite

The locality at Chumar Bakhoor ranks among the best-known pegmatites in Pakistan producing gorgeous Aquamarines, Fluorites and pink Fluorapatites. Here we have a fantastic display specimen featuring a wonderfully isolated, textbook, razor-sharp, rather lustrous, gemmy, beautiful rosy-pink colored, thick, tabular hexagonal crystal of Fluorapatite measuring 3.0 cm across sitting proudly atop a group of bladed, silvery-grey colored Muscovite matrix. A small cream colored Microcline crystal can be seen on the upper portion of the specimen for a great touch! The piece displays beautifully as you can see, and it has been trimmed so it doesn't require a base to prop it up! Looking closely, I cannot find any damage whatsoever on the Apatite, though there is a tiny bit of interrupted growth on the edge where it is intergrown with the Muscovite. Priced at $2,000 in the inventory. A showy and fine quality display specimen of this classic material. These Apatites at one time were more readily available than today, as this particular specimen dates back to 2003, and you'd be hard pressed to find similar specimens on the market now as very little is coming from this locality in recent years.
