Item Description
Chumar Bakhoor is a distinctive pegmatite locality in the high mountains of Pakistan, celebrated primarily for its Aquamarines, Fluorites and Apatites, which are often associated with a fair amount of Muscovite (which is not typically as abundant from most other pegmatites in Pakistan). The Apatites (Fluorapatites) are some of the best pink examples of the species you'll find from any locality, as they are often good-sized with excellent form and luster. This piece is a wonderful big showy display specimen hosting a 2.6 cm, gemmy, beautiful pink colored, thick hexagonal crystal of Fluorapatite nestled among thin blades of silvery-beige colored Muscovite, on matrix. The Apatite crystal has excellent luster, with no damage I can find, and it glows with a strong yellow hue under SW UV light. A great example of this older material dating back to the 1990s.
Valued $4,000-$5,000.
From the collection of Jack Halpern No. 3228. Jack was born May 18, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York, but has been a long-time resident of San Francisco.
