Fluorapatite on Feldspar (Chet Lemanski Coll.)

Item Description

An aesthetic small cabinet apatite and microcline feldspar combination from the 1989 find at this less well-known Minas Gerais pegmatite. A sculptural intergrown cluster of sharp hexagonal apatite prisms is artistically accented by the attached, contrasting oxide-tinted, euhedral microcline crystal. The highly lustrous mottled apatites are partially translucent dark olive-green. The impressive dominating apatite is 3.0 x 2.7 x 2.3 cm and the three attached small muscovite books are a nice accessory. At 3.0 cm, this is a fairly large crystal for the locale.
