Fluorapatite on Feldspar

Truly fine apatite crystals from Pakistan are always treasured and come in a variety of colors - pink, gray, some purplish. This colorless, mirrorlike crystal is something of a rarity, for the perfection, sharpness, and lack of color compared to others. The crystal, (2 cm) just under an inch across, sits perfectly atop a single crystal of albite feldspar, like a pedestal! It is truly a jewel of a miniature. Hard to describe, the combination of luster and shape and clarity makes it look machined, almost too good...and it is certainly among best in size class for this region. Another example of the things in the Meieran collection accumulated over 40 years....its not all big crystals. He collected to understand and see the breadth of the region; and exquisite combos such as this were in fact his favorite for decades.
