Item Description
A very hard to find matrix specimen from this locality featuring the typical compressed / tabular habit but an uniquely different color. The crystals are sharp, well-formed, and show predominant pyramidal faces, but the color is a soft mossy green with slight colorless zones, and a far cry from the stark blue crystals we've seen from here before. The piece was originally labeled as coming from "Pedras Altas (Pedra Alta), Sao Geraldo do Baixio", but these are actually two different localities, both of which produce Fluorapatite crystals. I'm 99% certain that it's from Sao Geraldo do Baixio. The Apatites measure up 9 mm across, but perhaps the most significant aspect is that they are sitting on white Albite matrix, which is rare in my experience. If you collect Apatites, phosphate or Brazilian minerals, this is an interesting esoteric specimen that would make a great addition to your collection.
