Item Description

A soon-to-be-classic example of from the famous 2007 discovery at the Sapo Mine in Brazil. These beautiful Fluorapatite specimens are iconic for the unique color and style of crystals. This full cabinet sized piece features sharp, lustrous, attractive crystals nicely placed on a matrix of lustrous white bladed Albite var: Cleavelandite with minor associated Muscovite The Fluorapatites are nicely isolated and measure up to 1.3 cm across. These crystals have hexagonal form, which range from tabular to somewhat "thick", and are translucent when backlit. The crystals are actually color zoned, as the exterior edges are virtually colorless, with the rest of the crystals showing that deep green hue. No major damage that I can see. The Apatites show light orange fluorescence under SW UV light. A choice, big and showy/aesthetic example from this famous discovery. Valued $1,250.
From the collection of retiring French mineral dealer, Michel Jactat.
