Item Description

This is a seldom-seen Fluorapatite specimen from Paraíba, Brazil. I think that most people will think of the electric colored Copper-bearing Tourmaline crystals and gems when it comes to the word "Paraíba", but there are plenty of other species are found in the state, including beautiful blue Fluorapatite crystals. This piece came from a recent discovery at Campina Grande and features sharp, lustrous, translucent, gentle silvery-blue colored tabular crystals of Fluorapatite measuring up to 1.3 cm sitting atop bladed white Albite matrix. There are a few tiny, "needle"-like crystals of Schorl scattered around, including one that is actually piercing through the edge of one of the Apatites. What a cool locality piece that would make a nice addition to any Brazilian collection, a phosphate suite, or a collection of worldwide Apatites.
