Item Description

This locality has been producing some interesting and unique Apatite specimens for many years, and this piece is a great example of said material. This miniature sized specimen comprises colorless to pale green colored Apatites with a unique appearance, i.e., compressed prismatic crystals in a semi-parallel growth. The Apatites are very sharp with highly lustrous faces and nice translucency, but the most interesting aspect is the fact that the piece has hollow "tube" that runs the length of the specimen so you can blow air through it like a whistle. One end of the specimen is actually crystallized, so it's in superb condition all the way around. This one was HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH and just better in person. If you're a collector of the various species of Apatite, or just general phosphates or simply Brazilian minerals, be sure to pick up this unique and eye-catching specimen that honestly stands out from all other Apatites I've seen from any other world locality. I'm told that Sapo has not produced these crystals for a few years, and may never produce these attractive specimens again.
