A stunning single crystal, 35.86 grams, of the classic granny-smith-apple-green apatites from this famous Mexico location. Crystals of this quality, this gemminess, AND with the saturated color, only came out long ago. Although some new material has been found in a few later mining projects , it does not have the strong color and size together to match specimens like this from the 1960s and 1970s. Jack Halpern collection #532, purchased in the 1960s from the late great collector and dealer Benji Kuehling at his Columbine Rock Shop. Talk about price appreciate...purchased for $2.50 in the pre-internet, pre-modern era of collecting at the time, and worth over $1000 today. We valued this at $1200-1500 for quality and size.
