Fluorapatite gem crystal

Gem, prismatic Fluorapatites like this one are rare from anywhere and were unheard in Burma until Bill Larson obtained a small stash of them during the course of his travels, from just a few pockets in the early 2000s. This superb, rich blue-green, prismatic crystal is just over an inch and a half long and is gem through its ENTIRE length! The long, prism faces are well developed and this stunning crystal is capped on one end by a pyramidal termination. Backlighting this gem Fluorapatite crystal on a white screen and rotating the blue crystal reveals its intense pleochroism from an intense blue to a medium blue upon rotation. This gorgeous Fluorapatite has a mass of 1.89 grams. Slender but impressive, it is perhaps gram for gram the finest of species in quality. At the time, specimens like this sold for $2000 and more per crystal, and that was near 20 years ago. This one was kept back for the jewel-like quality and style.
