Item Description

Fluorapatites from the Panasqueira Mines of Portugal are justifiably world-renowned for their quality and beauty. This cabinet specimen features a cluster of four intergrown, glassy, gemmy, color-zoned, green Fluorapatite crystals perched on a very sharp, architectural Quartz crystal. The tabular crystals have textbook, hexagonal form and incredible luster. The largest of the Fluorapatites is an impressive 2.7 cm across and 1.1 cm thick. Highly representative material from this classic locale. These large crystals are exceptionally well presented, and are nestled within a natural notch in the partially-gemmy Quartz crystal. The overall composition is incredibly aesthetic, and the good yellow fluorescence adds even more to the piece. ex Keith Proctor collection, and sold for several thousand dollars in the 1990s to the previous owner. It is worth $2000 or so, today, in my opinion. Much better in person!
