Item Description

Pretty blue-green, glassy, gemmy to translucent hexagonal fluorapatite crystals richly and attractively cover both sides of this showy and excellent small cabinet example from famed Panasqeira. The large crystal on the edge in the front is 1.8 cm across and the impressive larger crystal on the back is 2.2 cm across. Scattered clusters of small brown siderites are a nice accent. Bruising is noted on both sides, but this remains a rich, nicely colored and highly representative example of the species and noted locale. Ex Kay Robertson Colletion # 6540 and acquired at a Sotheby's auction in Pebble Beach in 1971. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Bright two-color blue and yellow fluorescence!
