Item Description
An interesting an unusual small cabinet sized piece from the famous 2007 find at the Sapo Mine. This piece features translucent, soft greenish colored hexagonal crystals of Fluorapatite, which are intergrown in an "Faden"-esque formation, associated with a rarely seen doubly-terminated Quartz flaring off the side. The largest crystal measures 2.0 cm across. The habit is both tabular and prismatic for the Apatites, but the "Faden"-esque growth is rare for the locality, and Apatite in general. Very choice and aesthetic example from this famous discovery. The piece shows a golden-yellow fluorescence under 365 nm UV light.
From the collection of retiring French mineral dealer, Michel Jactat.
