Item Description
Of all the colors of Apatite, purple is the most desirable, sought after and arguably beautiful. Here we have a wonderful thumbnail sized specimen featuring a 2 mm prismatic crystal of gemmy purple Fluorapatite sitting prismatic milky white Quartz with minor iron oxide staining. A few partial Fluorapatite crystals can be seen on the back of the piece as well. A really showy and good quality example of these famous Apatites from this well-known pegmatite locality in South Dakota. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9139). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
