Item Description
A single, 2.0 cm, translucent, euhedral, prismatic crystal of hexagonal Fluorapatite crystal with the classic greenish yellow color from Cerro de Mercado is sitting atop a matrix coated with Chalcedony a few small bladed Calcite crystals. These Fluorapatites are not nearly as common on the market as they were about 20 years ago, and are certainly some of the most distinctive Apatites from any locality in the world. The specimen has great form and color, and would make a worthwhile addition to a gem crystal suite, a collection of Mexican minerals, or a suite of Apatites. The main Apatite crystal is undamaged, but the smaller crystals are contacted / broken. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6426). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
