Item Description
This piece is a great example of the seldom seen Fluorapatites from Wilberforce as it features a pair crystals and not just a solitary prism. The crystals are sharp, lustrous and well-formed, with an odd milky blue hue measuring up to 1.8 cm sitting on pinkish Calcite matrix. The piece is three-dimensional, great quality for the locality, and certainly old material from this well known calcium metamorphic deposit. Surprisingly the piece is not repaired, and is actually almost damage free, save the edge of one of the crystals where it was removed from the pocket. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3589). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
