Item Description

A classic specimen of Fluorapatite from Panasqueira featuring sharp, thick, tabular, translucent crystals measuring up to 2.7 cm on matrix. The crystals show a bicolor with a soft greenish hue on the exterior and a dark green color in the "cores" of the crystals. The piece is in good shape overall, with only a few superficial nicks, and the back of the piece might appear to be contacted, but if you look closely, it's almost completely crystallized! A great old specimen of this beloved material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4222) with a label from A. Berger of Vienna, Austria that states this piece came from a Professor Pohl of Vienna. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
