Item Description

Apatite (Fluorapatite) is a popular and well-known species for collectors, and the Panasqueira Mines in Portugal have been the source of what are certainly some of the most distinctive and iconic examples of Fluorapatite ever seen. These specimens have a unique form and are found in several different colors. This miniature sized piece features classic, sharp, lustrous, translucent tabular crystals which show a slight color change with a purple hue in indoor lighting, and more of a blue color in sunlight. The largest crystal measures 1.3 cm across. There are a few broken spots, but overall ,it's a beautiful example of these classic specimens from what might the most well-known locality in all of Portugal. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
