Fluorapatite (classic locality)

This is a fine quality, classic example of the famous Fluorapatites from Cerro de Mercado, Mexico. This piece is a notably sharp, lustrous, gemmy, euhedral, prismatic, hexagonal crystal of Fluorapatite with the well known slightly greenish yellow color and classic pyramidal termination measuring over 2 inches with minor Quartz attache at the basex. The termination on the Apatite has few little rough spots, but it's in great condition overall. These specimens are not nearly as common on the market as they were about 30 years ago, and are certainly some of the most distinctive crystals of Apatite from any locality in the world. You don't see too many crystals of this size from this locality, and this piece dates back many decades, when some of the biggest crystals from Cerro de Mercado were found. Valued $1,250.
