Item Description
An OLD-TIME, classic, apatite crystal from this this famed Ontario locale. The highly lustrous, textbook hexagonal, variegated mahogany-brown crystal has beautiful, rich areas of translucent, blue-green color. The offset terminations add much character. This locality is one of Ontario's most famous mineral localities and was internationally known in the nineteenth century (MINDAT). It produced a 700 pound fluorapatite crystal and a zircon 1 foot in diameter! Outstanding old-time material from an East Coast collection and comes with a water-stained and faded century-old label. The Bobs Lake locality on the label is incorrect. The two Bobs Lake localities listed by MINDAT for Ontario are mica and chlorapatite mines. Undoubtedly from the famous Turner's Lake Mine.
