Item Description

This is not your typical Fluorapatite from the Sapo Mine. Most people are familiar with the rich green tabular crystals on Albite that were found in the early 2000s, but this one is notably different, both in habit and color. The piece features a 2.5 cm long, prismatic hexagonal group of Fluorapatite that has a silvery-colorless hue on the exterior, but if you look down the center, you'll see there is a beautiful blue "core" that runs the length of the crystals! If that wasn't enough, the Fluorapatite group is beautifully perched atop a dark green-black colored group of Tourmaline with silvery "cat's eye" terminations. I've only seen a few blue Apatites from the Sapo Mine over the years, but this one is distinctive and just plain different than anything else I've seen from this locality. If you collect gem crystals, thumbnails, Apatites, pegmatite minerals or specimens from Brazil, this piece fits wonderfully into all of those categories, so don't miss out!
