A classic Apatite specimen from Cerro de Mercado featuring a sharp, lustrous, GEMMY, euhedral, prismatic crystal of Apatite with the well known slightly greenish yellow color on matrix. These specimens are not nearly as common on the market as they were about 20 years ago, and are certainly some of the most distinctive crystals of Apatite from any locality in the world. You can see some botryoidal "Hyalite" Opal on the side of the piece that fluoresces a brilliant green under SW UV light. MATRIX specimen are exceedingly difficult to obtain in this quality. Overall, a good specimen of this renowned Mexican material. The crystal measures 3.6 cm, and it does have a contact on the lower / outer edge where it was removed from the pocket wall.
