Fluorapatite

Item Description

Light amber highlights sparkle through this transparent, group of well-formed Fluorapatite crystals from this well known pegmatite field in Brazil. This fine cluster is composed of several lustrous and gemmy crystals with complex terminations. The crystals are well-formed and almost totally limpid, especially the larger one. There are at least six, stout, prismatic crystals in this arrangement that range in size from 1 to 3.5 cm. The larger ones are in slightly divergent directions while the smaller ones are in more random orientation, mostly at the top and bottom of the group. Crystals are dominated by the prism faces and the complex terminations include the angled pyramid and flat pinacoid forms that assist in reflecting any incident light from these gemmy, colorful crystals. Rarely do we see Fluorapatites available from this area today.
