Item Description

A classic piece of the famed Fluorapatite specimens from the Foote Mine in North Carolina featuring sharp, well-formed, hexagonal crystals that range from blue to purple hues measuring up to 8 mm on matrix. Some of the crystals are contacted/broken, but there are several that feature excellent, lustrous, distinct crystal faces. Purple is almost universally agreed to be the most desirable color for Apatite, and the specimens from the Foote Mine get largely overlooked, but they are certainly worth adding to any collection of worldwide Apatites, phosphates or minerals from the Southern United States. From the collection Jack Eaker.
