Fluor-uvite - Uvite Series (Tourmaline) on Quartz (ex Brian Kosnar Collection)

You'll see a lot of these pieces labeled as Uvite, which is an rare/uncommon Tourmaline species. With that said, we would like to stress that these crystals are now defined as being part of the Fluor-uvite - Uvite series. The problem with the labelling is that they cannot be distinguished visually, so you can only label them as the entire series. With that said, it appears that most pieces that were labeled previous as Uvite are likely to be Fluor-uvite, but we are labeling these specimens going forward as Fluor-uvite - Uvite series. This large thumbnail / toenail sized piece features a few excellent, sharp, tabular, trigonal crystals of a dark red color with high luster and excellent gemminess aesthetically sitting on colorless to white, sharp, lustrous gemmy Quartz crystals. The Fluor-uvite - Uvite crystals measure up to 8 mm. A good quality and high displayable example of these world-class "Uvite" crystals. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
