Item Description
Fluor-uvite is a rare Tourmaline species, and some of the best examples from any US locality are the famous crystals from Gouverneur, New York. This piece is an excellent thumbnail featuring sharp, glassy, well-formed faces on the termination, and a rich reddish-brown mahogany color. Overall, the piece is in very good condition, though I can see one nick on the edge of where the pyramidal faces meet the prism. A very attractive example of these elusive historic crystals. It should be noted that this particular piece was collected on June 12, 2011 by Michael R. Walter.
Formerly in the collection of Kyle Kevorkian, who obtained it from Jim Houran.
