Fluor-buergerite (very rare Tourmaline species)

Item Description

A wonderful and very rare example of the classic "Buergerite" Tourmaline (now Fluor-buergerite) from the type locality in Mexico. These desirable specimens apparently came from a one time find by a single miner, who died and never divulged the location of the deposit to anyone, so it has remained lost since the 1960s. This piece features classic chocolate-bronze colored prismatic trigonal crystals measuring up to XXXXX cm on soft brownish-pink rhyolite matrix. Most of the crystals are in very good shape, though there are few contacts. Overall it's an impressive specimen filled with multiple crystals and displays nicely as you can see.
From the collection of the beloved mineral dealer and collector Rock H. Currier (1940-2015) who was the long-time owner of Jewel Tunnel Imports. Collection #340. Rock travelled the world in search of mineral specimens, and built and impressive collection over his lifetime. He was one of the more colorful and unforgettable figures in the mineral world.
