Item Description

Fluoborite is a very rare magnesium fluoro borate and the best examples are found in Sussex County, New Jersey and the San Vito Quarry in Italy. The type locality is actually Tallgruvan, Sweden, contrary to popular belief. This specimen features semi foliated beige-brown crystals of Fluoborite free of matrix. The piece is truly a micro specimen, and we have photographed the crystals with a Canon MP-E 65 mm lens to better illustrate their quality. This specimen comes from the collection of noted New Jersey collector, Frances Patricia ("Pat") Gross, and later passed from her to Rich Kosnar in 1991. Pat was Rich's mentor in the world of mineral collecting when he was a teenager in New Jersey. The piece is still mounted in Pat's original micro box, with her hand-written label attached to the lid, along with a hand-written piece of paper glued to the base of the box that states that it was acquired in January of 1967.
