Item Description
Fluoborite is a rare anhydrous Mg-borate with halogen formed from contact metasomatisn with magnetite deposits. Stellate sprays of tiny brown acicular crystals richly line the lightweight sculptural vug and one outside wall on this rich and showy specimen from these old tuff quarries. The species is well-known from here, but specimens are seldom on the market. Old, early 1900s material from the Paterson Museum Collection, where it was on display.
