Item Description

Florencite-(Ce) is a fairly rare cerium aluminum phosphate mineral, named after the Brazilian mineralogist, Dr. Guilherme (William) Florence. Some of the finest and most well-known examples of the species are those from the Pomba Pit locality in Brumado, Bahia, Brazil. This is a superb specimen of said material featuring a few gorgeous soft peach-orange colored, trigonal prismatic crystals of Florencite-(Ce) measuring up to 9 mm, sitting among gemmy, colorless, rhombic Magnesite crystal matrix. The Florencite crystals are sharp and well-formed, and even show a bit of translucency when backlit. A high quality rarity and a must have for any fan of phosphates, rare minerals or specimens from Brazil. I value this one highly for the quality, size of the crystals and overall visual appeal. If I had this one for sale on the shelf at show, I would put a retail price of $4,000 on it.
