floater Quartz included w/ Fluorite (large)

Item Description

A striking large cluster of doubly terminated, floater, quartz crystals included with about 15-20 purple fluorite octahedrons to 4 mm. The tapered, water-clear quartz crystals have lightly frosted, preferentially etched and coated faces. You can also see about negative casts, where the fluorites were plucked or dissolved away. One large fluorite was 1.4 cm across! Very interesting. Complete all-around, nearly pristine, with only a bit of edge and termination wear. This very uncommon find from Madagascar a few years ago represented one of the few new sensations at the Tucson Show. These remain an impressive and highly representative example of this rare Madagascar combination. No more have been forthcoming. This is definitely one of the better large specimens we got in the small lot we obtained and was just uncovered from the recent move. Valued $1000-1250
